KIESTRA Lab Automation BV is based in the province of Friesland. This is a unique area within The Netherlands due to its surroundings, habitants and its own official language. The company is located between the pastures and surrounded by typical Frisian spotted cows and sheep. The Frisian people are proud of their roots, known for their hard work and reliability but can also be headstrong. It’s these characteristics that gives KIESTRA its open and ambitious character and culture: honest, genial, informal, ambitious and above all professional.

The company is family owned and was founded in 1961 as Kiestra Instrumentenmakers by Philippus Pobe Kiestra. Most of the family names in Friesland, such as Kiestra, Botma, Dijkstra, Dalstra, Postma, end with an A. Today we are at the forefront in the development of solutions and services for modern medical bacteriology laboratories and the capital A became our trademark: InoqulA, IncubatA, ImagA, etc.

We provide optimal and manageable solutions for large, mid sized and small laboratories. Our concepts for Total Lab Automation, Work Cell Automation or BenchTop Automation ensure there will always be a match between your laboratory and KIESTRA. We know your laboratory is different. Therefore all our products are developed in close collaboration with our customers, the bacteriologists. Short and direct communication lines is second nature to KIESTRA.
