One year after the installation at Frimley Park: “We were able to cope with an work increase of 40% and still reduced our staff by 12 WTE.”
It has been a year since KIESTRA installed the “It’s The Sample That Moves!” line at Frimley Park's pathology laboratory. A good reason to reflect this past year with Dr. Ian Fry, Director of Pathology. KIESTRA spoke with him about the changes that have been made and the results that were booked.

Lister Hospital increases productivity within bacteriology lab with a factor 2.6 with KIESTRA
Two years after the installation of the “It’s The Sample That Moves” it is time to do a reQuick Scan to see what progress has been made. In this scan the results are compared to results of the Quick Scan done in 2006. The conclusions are phenomenal and can be found in this article. Before KIESTRA automated the sample processing, the bacteriology lab at Lister could process 24,7 specimen per FTE per day. With KIESTRA's Total Lab Automation solution "It's The Sample That Moves!" the bacteriology team is now able to process 63,9 specimen per FTE per day on average. As a result the productivity increased by a factor of 2,6.

A VISION of the future – the software toolbox for sorting positive and negative images for MRSA
A VISION of the future – the software toolbox for sorting positive and negative images for MRSA
Vision Toolbox is now available. But what is it? And what can it do for you? Martin van der Kaap, Research Manager at KIESTRA Lab Automation, explains: “The Vision Toolbox is a software application for microbiology analysis. The software is able to analyse a digital photograph of a plate. The software will advise the Biomedical Scientist on a number of results (i.e. Growth or No growth for MRSA, the organism related to the colour reaction on the urine chromogenic plate , as well as zone measurement for susceptibility testing). The Biomedical Scientist decides to accept or decline the advise which significantly accelerates the decision making process.”

The success of the InoqulA workshop
The success of the InoqulA workshop
During the past years, KIESTRA has performed numerous InoqulA workshops. Laboratories where able to experience the advantages of the InoqulA inoculation principle with the magnetic rolling bead. Thanks to KIESTRA's workshop formula many laboratories have experienced the value of the magnetic rolling bead ensuring enough single colonies. Each laboratory convinced themselves using the InoqulA principle with their own specimen and media.
